The Lochs and Glens Route, Sustrans Route 7, runs from Carlisle to Inverness, a distance of 428 miles. Three of us were on the trip, my wife Christine and I and our son Rowan. We strayed from the official route in places since we wanted to include the Isle of Arran and later on to climb Schiehallion. We also devised a cunning plan to avoid cycling through Glasgow.
Here’s how we got on.
