The Broads

Horning
Horning

We slept really well, comfortable beds in a quiet village, but the breakfast was poor – instant coffee! We cycled a short way to the boardwalk overlooking Barton Broad where we saw nesting terns. At Horning we spotted a classy deli where we bought bread, olives, hommous and cakes for our lunch. We continued on to Hickling Broad where we’d hoped to catch a boat trip but it was booked up. The walk around the nature reserve’s boardwalk was interesting though, looking onto the Broad from the hides. We saw marsh harriers and damselflies but missed the swallowtail butterflies that some of the others spotted.

We returned the same way and in the evening enjoyed a lovely meal at the very friendly Saddlery Restaurant.
