Family day

Line up at Marks Hall

In the morning, Dave drove us to Marks Hall to see the gardens and park, having to shelter under trees while a short sharp shower played out overhead.

Alister drove us to Enfield in time to collect Rowan’s niece Soria from nursery and take her back to the pub which her mother Zoe’s partner Louie manages. Christine had met them before but it was the first time for Rowan and I. She’s a lively little lass and enjoys being the centre of attention. We didn’t enjoy the long car journey but the heavy afternoon deluge made us glad not to be cycling.

We called in on the recently opened Braintree Wagamama but the food wasn’t as well cooked as their other restaurants we’ve visited. Worst of all, Rowan’s still hadn’t appeared by the time the rest of us had finished and the waitress hadn’t a clue whether it was being prepared or not, so after complaining we left. Alister kindly cooked a quick meal for Rowan when we got back to Wethersfield.
