Yesterday’s weather forecast had promised this afternoon would be fine, but this morning’s update told a different story – rain and low cloud spreading from the west. We walked up the Corbett behind the hostel, Meall a’ Bhuachaille, while the going was good. We accomplished this quickly, then took an early lunch at the hostel, during which the rain arrived. We rode up the hill in the wet to the base station of the new Cairngorm Mountain Railway and took refuge in the café where a large crowd was watching the world cup final. At the final whistle everyone left! We took a wet cold walk towards Coire an Sneachla, then splashed down the hill to the hostel.
