This was a really easy day but a waste of a good hillwalking one since the weather was set to deteriorate. After breakfast back in the restaurant we cycled the easy seven miles to Aviemore in bright dry weather, the wind having dropped in intensity. We shopped at Tesco for our three day stay at Loch Morlich youth hostel and watched the Strathspey steam railway train depart, followed by lunch and dragging our shopping the six miles to the hostel, which didn’t open until 17:00. So we dumped our stuff and headed down to the nearby café where we were ripped off for a tiny piece of carrot cake. Then a walk along the sandy loch shore, dinner and a restful evening at the hostel.
