Killin to Kinloch Rannoch

Loch Tay
Loch Tay

We were again up early but cleaning the mud off our bikes and adjusting brake blocks after yesterday’s hammering delayed our start. The weather was bright and breezy for the fast undulating run along the eastern shore of Loch Tay. The road was quiet, tourists comprising most of the traffic. Again we had to wait ages for Rowan to catch up so we didn’t reach Kenmore until lunch time, topping our picnic with coffee and carrot cake in the café. We caught the wind at the head of the loch, then on up the B846 with wind assistance until we reached the turning for Kinloch Rannoch after which the wind was in our faces as we had to fight for every mile, high gears being inadequate for even the downhill sections.

We bought wine in the village then checked in at the vegetarian guest house just before 17:00. Dinner started promisingly with a lovely curried puy lentil soup, not matched by the very ordinary aubergine bake and creme caramel which looked and tasted factory made.
